Dr Martin Ott
Dr Martin Ott has developed an impressive CV, spanning multiple continents and sectors over four decades.
Born in Germany in 1957, Martin now works with international clientele from his home in the UK that he shares with his wife and two children.
Martin’s professional journey, his expansive knowledge and experience has led Martin to want to share and support others through his coaching, where many of his clients arrive through personal and professional recommendation.
Martin holds a PhD from Ludwig-Maximilians-University/Munich. His career began with teaching in Germany. His interests and academic abilities led him next to work with an Aid Agency in Munich before taking on the role of Policy Lobbyist in Bonn. Martin has worked extensively in Africa; he held a lectureship at the University of Malawi and then moved onto Project Management, working as a team leader for German Development Projects in Malawi and Senegal.
In 2013, Martin’s family commitments brought him to the UK and his career moved into the private sector where he became Director of Sales in the automobile industry.
Martin has published widely in the areas of Management, International Development, Politics and Theology. A varied career fuelled by a curiosity for development has been key to Martins’ successes and achievements.
Over the last 10 years, Martin has been training, developing and practising as an executive coach. Driven by a sense of responsibility, Martin’s exposure to and experiences of different work and cultural contexts have enabled him to develop the skills and methodologies he now employs with his coaching clientele; supporting managers from the public and private sectors as well as the academic world to become more effective leaders of people and processes.
Martin prides himself in striking a balance between person-centred work and the understanding of institutional development. Having lived abroad extensively, he also understands the need to apply intercultural skills and communication.
